1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous Leaky Iron, January 18, 2011

I was so excited to get a new steam iron. As soon as this one arrived I grabbed a blouse to try it out. I filled it with water, turned it on and when it was hot started to iron. The burst of steam was very powerful, the steam was good, but it was leaking. I thought I might have done something wrong such as not turning the heat high enough so put it away. My husband tried it next and commented that it was leaking. I decided I had to know what was going on with it for sure so checked the water which was about an inch below the maximum fill line. I turned it on and when it was hot started to iron. All of a sudden I was seeing water literally running out of it. I took a better look and the water was running out where the cord is hooked into the iron. I hurried to unplug it as I can't believe it's safe to have water running out over the electrical connection. This may have just been a broken iron, but I'm not willing to give this one another try. I was so disappointed.

I bought this iron on sale at a craft store and then came here to read the reviews. I was especially concerned about the review that said the iron leaks water. This iron, or any iron, will likely leak water if you fill the iron past the fill mark for water on the iron. That would be easy to do with this iron because the plastic water pitcher that comes with the iron to use to fill it has water level markings that are beyond what the iron can accept. So if you fill the plastic pitcher to its maximum marker line, it is too much water for the iron. It is good to check the maximum water level indicator on the side of the iron to make sure you have not put in too much water. I did check it, spilled the extra water out, and had no problems.

I like that I can set the amount of steam that is produced when I use the iron. I used a medium amount of steam, and the wrinkles in my cotton fabric vanished immediately. This is a kind of magic that just did not happen with my old... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Singer Iron Just Ok, March 17, 2011

This iron is just ok, I've had it for a little less than a year now, and it takes some getting used to. It does a little spotting from time to time, but nothing major, and it takes a little bit of time to get properly warmed up. I would have to think there are better products on the market in the same price range than this iron, but I'm content with my decision. So shop wisely and read the reviews.
