Easy on the eyes, tough on the wrinkles, December 19, 2003 By This review is from: T-Fal 1749 Ultraglide Diffusion Iron (Kitchen) This is one great looking iron, with a bundle of features designed to make ironing easier, and extend the life of the equipment. The soleplate is eye catchingly attractive, and oh, so smooth to touch (when the iron is off, of course)The easy fill drawer is a life saver, and the majority of features are within reach of your fingertips while ironing. The instruction manual is sufficiently idiot-proof, but the whole once per month cleaning and descaling exercise seems a bit daunting.
It is slightly heavy, and depending on how you hold the iron, you can press the spray mist button unintentionally, which is a bit of a problem when ironing delicate fabrics.
Otherwise a very good iron for the price.

Ironing-a love hate relationship, August 26, 2004 By This review is from: T-Fal 1749 Ultraglide Diffusion Iron (Kitchen) Okay, I love the look of crisp tailored clothes but I needed some help with what was becoming a huge chore, my 1100 watt cheapie wasn't doing it, and by the way, it leaked and spotted. So I researched it , bought the "Name" --Rowenta Actipress-- for double the cost of this TFal Ultraglide. Got the Rowenta home, read the directions, re-read the directions (I've never paid so much for an iron in my life, wanted to get it right). Yes, stainless steel soleplates are lovely and glide and hover all over your clothes. But, as I finished the final sleeve of my hubby's XL Linen shirt drip, Oh did I hit the mist button, no checked that, drip, drip leak drip. Before the ironing was over 2 almost finished linen shirts had to go into the laundry again because of the water marks ugh! I HATE that! So, I returned the Rowenta and go back to the drawing board.

Excellent basic iron features! Heats quickly and the steam features work great... no dripping water problems. This iron GLIDES accross the fabric (with the unique plate material). Filling my old iron with water was a PAIN... always choked on the stream of water as it was filling. This iron has a small drawer that pull outward to accept the water flow... works great! Highly recommend this iron, no need to hesitate about your purchase!
