But started leaking and seemed not to get as hot as before after that. Next time I'd rather pay more for something that will last.

She liked the way it worked as well as the expensive one. The Sharp quit after 18 months, the Black and Decker started leaking at 14 months, two months out of warranty!! It is a good iron but will not last very much past the 12 month warranty period.
