3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Iron, October 26, 2010
This review is from: - Shark Lightweight Professional Iron (Kitchen)
My family goes through about an iron a year. We've tried Rowenta, Sunbeam, Black & Decker and now Shark. At just over a year, the Shark has lasted the longest, maybe because of the anti-calc feature. The first six months, it worked great. It gets pretty hot and produces a lot of steam. Around the 6th month we started having the same problem we've had with all of our other irons, the steam stops working and we get a lot of dripping. I tried the self cleaning feature and that seemed to help. We use the iron every day and now have to use the self cleaning feature at least once a week in order to keep the steam working. Even using the self cleaning feature once a week, we still get some dripping. If the iron had lasted a bit longer before manifesting these problems, I would have otherwise rated it a 4.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good iron if you iron once in a while, July 24, 2011
This review is from: - Shark Lightweight Professional Iron (Kitchen)
I had a sunbeam iron for years, but it finally started producing less steam. It could be that the vents were clogged with calcium. I researched many irons from all of the top consumer report websites, and I read customer reviews as well. I decided to buy this iron because it is supposed to produce lots of steam which Shark is notorious for. I needed lots of steam to iron all of the tough wrinkles out of my many linen and cotton fabrics. This iron did wonders on the first day, and I used it exactly as described in the manual. It made ironing a breeze! I ironed over 40 pants and shirts on the first day. Day 2, the steam power started going down, and the spray nozzle was squirting water instead of spraying it in a "fine mist". Day 3, I tried ironing 10 shirts, but it took me triple the time because the steam was insufficient, but even at the maximum setting, the iron was maintaining a variable temperature. The temperature would go from cool to "too hot to touch" within the same minute. I... Read more
