Black and Decker IR0008SNA, February 22, 2011 By Ibis_PB "fd57" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Black & Decker IR008SNA First Impressions Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen) As someone who irons a great deal, I have been trying to replicate the performance of a Moulinex/Hamilton Beach that is now maybe 15 years ago - A stellar iron that came at an extremely modest price. After having purchased a Rowenta (poor performer) and T-Fal (only marginally better), I selected this Black & Decker IR0008SNA. At the time I purchased it, it may have been a new model as there were no reviews readily available. Based on the B&D name, the heft, the features and general appearance, combined with the sale price, I purchased this item (at another store).
I have been very unhappy with this product. At 1500Watts, I had anticipated a higher heat factor which was MIA. The steam was an underperformer to put it mildly. And the 'shot of steam', well, you needn't worry about getting any steam burns. I have had this item for 4 months now and finally called the manufacturer. To their credit, they did offer to replace the item and open a file on the issue, so... Read more

Do not know what else to buy since the last iron was a $130 Rowenta made in Germany and that lasted 2 years. Hate now to spend the $200 on the top of the line Rowenta.
